We are excited to share that we will be having a Mission Moment, Sunday, January 25th, on the Nambale School in Kenya.
For many years, North Church has partnered with Rev. Evalyn Wakhusama, of the Nambale School to support education initiatives through the Women’s Initiative for Knowledge and Survival (WIKS), a charitable organization incorporated in Connecticut in 2009, that promotes a quality educational experience for the children in Kenya affected by extreme poverty and famine, as well as those orphaned by the AIDS pandemic.
This volunteer organization, formed by Americans with a close personal relationship to Rev. Evalyn, raises nearly 100% of the funds needed to support the Nambale Magnet School.
The idea of an educational experience which aligns the children of intact and prosperous families alongside those of poverty and homelessness is compelling. This attractive setting has won the support of the Kenyan government, which sees promise in raising the quality of life in the area. Gifted faculty have been attracted to provide a quality education. Supporters in the U.S. and Europe want to share resources with people who have nothing, and serve as extended family to children who have none. The mission of the Nambale Magnet School is to provide for the most impoverished and needy children a safe and secure home and an excellent education in hope of breaking the cycle of poverty, one child at a time!
